Qianlong period, circa 1760.


The border is decorated with spearheads and flowers, while in the centre there are the arms of CRICHTON impaling FREKE. This service among four ordered in China was perhaps made for John CRICHTON a private trader at Canton in 1770 who married the daughter of Mr. S. FREKE governor of Bengal from 1733 to 1738.


Condition : crack consolidated on the border.
